From Conflict to Harvest: Reviving Paicho with Coffee & Banana Abundance.
In the heart of Paicho, Gulu District, Northern Uganda, a 3-acre piece of land is ready to rise from the shadows of past conflict into a thriving symbol of hope, resilience, and prosperity.
This project transforms 3 acres of fertile land into a sustainable coffee and banana plantation using smart intercropping. Fast-maturing banana plants will deliver income and food within 12–18 months, while high-value Arabica coffee trees establish deep roots for long-term wealth. Together, they create a climate-smart, regenerative farming system that restores the soil, boosts biodiversity, and builds lasting economic opportunity.
Why This Project Matters
- Economic Empowerment: Generates reliable income for families through banana sales in the short term and premium coffee exports in the long term.
- Job Creation: Provides employment in land preparation, planting, maintenance, and harvesting for local community members.
- Food Security & Resilience: Increases local food production and demonstrates a replicable model for other farmers in the region.
- Peace & Recovery: Turns former conflict-affected land into productive farmland, fostering stability and self-reliance in post-conflict Northern Uganda.
